To enter the upper world you select a flying creature you've seen recently. Any creature will do, a bird, a bee, dragonfly or other insect. I would suggest not choosing a wasp or similarly stinging thing, unless of course you have an affinity for them.
You may also choose a whirlwind or tornado if you've seen one recently, but I would personally expect strange results from such a conduit. It might works well for others.
Consider the question or problem you want to resolve at length, don't judge just try to get as clear as you can on the matter. Lay down and relax as much as possible, and get a vision of the conduit you've chosen vivid in your mind. Feel the feathers, or the humming if you've chosen an insect, the swirl of sand and earth if you've chosen a whirlwind, then begin the drumming.
As the drumming starts allow yourself to be taken up into the sky with the conduit. You need to place your faith in mother earth to care for you, as the conduit could very well take you anywhere. Not to worry, though, the upper world is much more gentle than the lower one.
Just let it carry you and really let go, you will soon feel as if you've broken through some sort of barrier, and you should begin to see things clearly with eyes closed. Truly you should feel transported. If you do not see anything, you have not relaxed enough and need to work on that.
When you've reached your destination, you can step away from the conduit. If you've chosen a bird or an insect the creature will happily wait for you while you explore. If you've selected a whirlwind it will return to take you back down.
Look around and take mental notes of everything you see. Try to commit to memory even small details, if you can. In the Otherworlds communication tends to happen in symbols, so do keep that in mind. When you have finished go back the way you came in and from there you can fly/fall back down into the everyday world.
The upper world is a much gentler, and also less complex place than the lower world, in my opinion. As an example, recently on a trip to the upper world I was feeling out of place, off track somehow, and I couldn't see exactly where I was going wrong. So I took that problem as my question.
On my way up I passed a group of men with shields. They were painted brightly from head to toe, and their shields matched their body paint. They were apparently guarding an area I wasn't permitted to enter. So I continued on, appreciating how brightly colored and interesting the were.
I finally landed and almost immediately met myself, but it was not the me I see everyday. This me was quite radiant, and appeared to be very open and kind, not lost, or conflicted, or anything of the kind. I suppose this is the me I want to be.
Then I turned to see a step pyramid to my right, and it was pointed out to me that I could see the answer to my problem from the top of it. So off I went. Before I got to the base of the pyramid I met my grandmother, who left this world quite some time ago.
Suddenly I was overcome with guilt over things I'd said to her as a young teenager. As an adult I'm extremely careful about what I say and do, I have an evil conscience that will torture me for years if I don't obey its every command, but most teens have that moment of unbearableness, I think. I was no exception.
Anyway, it was nothing I would find unforgivable if it was said to me, but it tore me apart upon seeing her and I apologized. I didn't realize I carried this kind of guilt around. She couldn't figure out what I was apologizing for. She also seemed very radiant, and much younger. It was good to see her.
I went to ascend the steps of the pyramid and found that about halfway there I could not get a leg up, each step was getting progressively more difficult and higher as I went. With a great deal of effort I finally made it to the top and saw my destination.
So off I went. I arrived at my destination and found myself again, asking me "Do you have faith? In yourself? In anyone? In anything?" I've never seen myself as a person lacking in faith, so I have questions about this statement. However, at this point it was time to go back, so I returned to the falcon and he took me home again.
