The Observer at the Threshold

I hear this all the time, people say "I projected and there was someone there, watching me. It was creepy. I couldn't project after that. Who was this guy standing over me?"

If this happens I would suspect that this creepy person watching you is most likely the Observer at the Threshold, rather than some vagrant spirit lost in the flesh world, or a demon trying to take possession of your body when you leave.

Who is the Observer? It's you, of course. Whether you realize it or not you are always watching you. The Observer watches and judges you by the same measure that you judge others. He has no eyes but your own, and no voice but your conscience.

If you fail to see what the Observer sees, and fail to hear what the Observer says, your perspective will begin to shift. You'll fall into the trap of not knowing yourself and the Observer, which is you, will begin to look like a stranger and possibly dangerous.

Therefore, it's vitally important that you know yourself well before you project. Be true to yourself, and be mindful of your own thoughts and actions. Be the Observer in daily life and you'll feel no threat if and when you meet the Observer in your soul travels.

I'm sorry...what, exactly, is the purpose of astral traveling?

When you astral project you experience yourself/your soul in a very different way. I think many people want to project simply to prove they have a soul.

There are many things you can experience and learn from astral travel, in higher states of consciousness, that you cannot learn and experience while flesh-bound.

It's a pretty common theme throughout the history of humans, mystics and shamanic-types have used it to help them gain deeper insight.
